Web Studio for MapGuide (Nothing Lite About It!)

File this under extremely cool web apps…

This morning, DM Solutions posted a press release timed to coincide with Autodesk’s announcement of MapGuide Enterprise 2007. In that release, they spoke breifly about developing a web-based authoring environment for MapGuide. This sounded pretty interesting, but was a bit lean on details.

As if sensing my curiosity, Paul Spencer of DM Solutions just posted a message to the OSGeo MapGuide Users mailing list that includes a lot more information about the user interface as well as some screen shots. You can see a couple of them here:

Dave McIlhagga from DM Solutions says “you’ll find it hard to believe you’re not using a piece of desktop software”. I’m really looking forward to seeing that for myself.

…oh and in explanation for the title. Initially Autodesk hinted at the development of a “Studio Lite” product that would allow Open Source users to publish to MapGuide without the proprietary MapGuide Studio product. From the screenshots alone, I’d have to agree with DM Solutions’ branding of this as simply “Web Studio”.
