Sure, you should be able to combine a Bufferer and a SpatialFilter to get what you want... I'd suggest asking this kind of question on the FMETalk Google Group for best results :)

I done something similar to what your doing and it works perfect. My knowledge in FME is limited and was still able to produce great results. I'm working on developing it further but having trouble with it. I want to create a buffer to be able to pick up the area within a certain radius of a given point and produce all the polygons in that area only. All within a georss of course...

Any ideas?

Thanks,
Stephen.

In this case, the RSS feed goes live as soon as the workbench completes execution. You would have to schedule the translation to run at a regular interval to keep the feed up to date.

Another option would be to implement FME Server, and have the RSS feed generated dynamically on request.

So I am a little confused... when does the rss feed go live in this senario? Is the FME connection kept live to updates changes within your database? Where do you serve the feed from?

A great workflow overview. I'm looking to do this with the ESRI Data interop extension for our recent property sales. Not sure if it (DIE) supports GeoRSS just yet. Intriguing workflow. Thanks for posting it.

[...] Jason Birch has a nice little tutorial on building a GeoRSS feed to show current housing starts with a feed of new construction building permits. He’s using Safe Software’s FME, but even if you don’t have that, he also shows the output on Google Reader and Google Maps. Very nice!
